Bio

Darya Katyba is a young and promising soprano that was born in Russia, raised in Ukraine and ventually settled in Norway. Already at the age of 4 she began to sing and engage herself in music and theatre in her native city Cherkassy, take part and win in different regional, national and international festivals and competitions. 

Darya took her Bachelor Degree in classical vocal performance at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo under the guidance of professor Barbro Marklund-Petersone. She fulfilled her Master's Degree in 2015 at the University of Agder in Kristiansand under the guidance of professor Neil Mackie. At the same time, in 2014-2015 Dasha studied at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki as an exchange student with vocal professor Outi Kähkönen and piano proffesors Gustav Djupsjöbacka, Ilmo Ranta and Kiril Kozlovsky. During her Masters she also visited the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music in London where she had possibility to take lessons with a lot of talented and well known musicians such as: Iain Ledingham, Kathleen Livingstone, Richard Stokes, Richard Shaw, Ludmila Andrew. 

Darya is an open minded singer with a broad repertoire that includes musical pieces of jazz, chanson, early, classical, folk and contemporary music. She cooperates with professional musicians from different countries, such as: Sven Lundestad (guitar), Aare-Paul Lattik (Estonia), Colin Andrews (USA), and many others. She takes part in projects around the whole Norway and arranges her own concerts. In june 2016 Darya gave a solo recital in Cherkassy at the Cherkassy College of Music and in october the same year arranged her first festival in Fredrikstad - St.Birgit Early Music Festival. She is also regulary to instruct choirs, conducts her own choir "A!Choir" and gives singing lessons.
